Everyone has a voice and everyone can sing! When we sing we use our breath (like bellows on an organ) to vibrate our larynx which is in our throat (like a reed on a wind instrument). Different people have voices with different ranges. Women with high voices are known as sopranos, and those with low voices are altos. Tenors are usually men with high voices are basses are men with the lowest voices. All children have high voices until they become adolescents, when especially boys’ voices change and become like men’s.
