Keyboard instruments are musical instruments that are played by a keyboard – a row of levers that are pressed by the fingers. The levers trigger the production of the sound, often through plucking or striking a string, but they could also be used for triggering the blowing of air through organ pipes, triggering an electrical signal to produce sound or the striking of a set of bells (carillon).
