FUSION is a group of 12 young female musicians (aged 13-19), who write and create new music as part of Drake Music’s Go Compose project. Through Go Compose Drake Music support young disabled musicians to develop their songwriting and composition skills. The FUSION group meets monthly at Merseyside Youth Association in Liverpool to learn music composition with Drake Music’s trained professional Associate Musicians: Jon Hering, Georgina Aasgaard, Kris Gjerstad and trainee Lucy Hale.
The young women are part of the Fusion service provided by Liverpool City Council. The Fusion project promotes inclusion for young people who have additional needs. The service provides support to children from the ages of 5 to 19 years. The key goals are to reduce isolation, develop friendships, access community resources in order to socialise, engage and learn life skills. This assists in improving physical and mental well-being, but above all the aim is for young people to have fun. The group leaders are Jo-Anne Goodman, Debbie Chapman and Kaitlyn Hughes.
