These minutes are about shopping!

Today, many people in Britain do their shopping in supermarkets or do online shopping. Shopping is an important part of daily life.

Shopping was very different in the past. If you were an Anglo-Saxon, you would have had to grow all your own food – there would have been no popping to the corner shop for a loaf of bread! You would have spent most of your time working on the land with wooden tools or looking after your animals.

In medieval times, people could buy their foods at local markets. The markets had lots of stalls, such as a fishmongers and stalls selling sacks of corn. There was also an exotic spice stall selling pepper and cinnamon.

How are people shopping in these minutes? Do you think it’s the same as how people shopped in the past?
