The earth has four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each of these have particular weather characteristics. Many composers have created music for these times of year. Seasons are caused by the earth’s rotation around the sun causing more or less sunlight to fall on different parts of the planet. Animals respond to these seasons, some have to move (migrate) in order to survive or find food.

The Minutes in this section explore the wide variety of changes that you can observe in different seasons.

What characteristic seasonal sounds can you hear in each of these Minutes?

How can you tell what season it is from the Minutes?

Why might the animals in the Minutes need to migrate?
