The saxophone is a single reed woodwind instrument usually made of brass. It comes in four different sizes, each of which has its own range of pitches, giving them their distinctive sounds. It is commonly used in wind bands and in jazz ensembles, but can also be heard playing in many other kinds of music too including orchestras, and pop groups. The saxophone was named after its inventor – Adolphe Sax!
