A samba band is a group of instruments used to play samba music. Samba music is played in many parts of South and Latin America, especially Brazil, and many samba rhythms originate from West Africa through the movement of people during the slave trade era.

A samba band consists of a number of percussion instruments including surdos, timbal, snare drums, agogo bells and shakers. There is often a whistle to give the count in at the beginning and call the rhythmic changes. Some bands also include pitched instruments and even singers.
