This is a woodwind instrument traditionally made from wood but now most commonly made from plastic. It has a whistle-like mouth piece and eight holes that are covered and uncovered by seven fingers and one thumb to change pitch. Recorders come in many different sizes and an ensemble of recorders is known as a consort.
