Pedal steel guitars are used in American country music. They comprise two guitar necks mounted on rectangular boxes on legs (it looks like a table!). The box is fitted with knee levers and foot pedals which change the pitch of certain strings. The player uses one hand to move a piece of steel back and forth to change the pitch and the other hand to pluck the strings.
