Sir Isaac Newton came up with important ideas about the forces which act on us. Look around you, there is a force acting on everything you can see. Gravity pulls objects down to earth and keeps you from floating off.

When Astronauts are in space, there is no gravity which is why you see them drifting around a space craft. Magnets are able to apply a force to other magnetic objects too. They can attract or repel things. Most of the sounds you can hear in this section are of machines. Machines apply forces to get jobs done.

Listen carefully to work out how the machines are moving and what they are doing.

Describe the machines you can hear in the Minutes.

What evidence can you hear to back up your idea? Why do you describe the machine like that?

What machines do you use in your everyday life?
