Body percussion is when the human body is used to create sounds, either on its own or to accompany a piece of music or dance. There are four main types of body percussion: stomping feet, patting the face or thighs, clapping hands and snapping fingers. By varying the position of your hands or feet, you can vary the pitch and resonance.

In the UK, Stomp is a well-known body percussion ensemble, which uses body percussion with non-traditional instruments, often made out of rubbish!
