Bass instruments produce tones in the low-pitch range. They normally provide the bassline in music and add warm, deep and low tones.

Examples of bass instruments include the double bass! This is the largest pitched and bowed string instrument in a symphony orchestra. The double bass is played with a bow (Arco) and by plucking the strings (pizzicato), and is used in classical music, jazz, rock and many types of folk music.

The bass guitar comes in both electric and acoustic forms and is played either with the fingers or thumb or a plectrum (often known as pick).
