The bass flute is the tenor member of the flute family and is a woodwind instrument. It is made up of a metal tube around 146 cm long, which is bent round into a J-shape.

To play the bass flute, you blow across a small hole at one end and open and close the holes on the instruments by pressing small metal keys. The bass flute is pitched one octave below the concert flute and is much rarer!
