Minute of Listening can help your school gain Artsmark!

Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England.  It provides a clear framework for teachers to plan, develop and evaluate culture and creativity across the curriculum and helps ensure that every child has the opportunity to create, compose and perform, as well as visit, experience, participate in and review extraordinary arts and culture.

Embedding Minute of Listening into your school curriculum on a daily basis is an accessible, democratic and simple way for all pupils to participate in creative listening and extend their musical and cultural experiences.

“Children and staff at Horfield School have been inspired by the Minute of Listening, and have built it into the core of learning throughout the school.  The pupils have responded with huge enthusiasm to the wide range of listening samples, and teachers use the minutes as a starting point to explore different areas of the curriculum.  Whilst applying for Artsmark, we looked at how to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum, and the Minute of Listening was at the heart of our work.”
