The Sound and Music Summer School is an annual residential course for 14-18 year old creative music-makers and composers. Throughout the week, they work across orchestral arrangement, technology, voice and world instruments to each create an original composition. You can find out more about the Summer School here.

This year, we invited the alumni to select a favourite minute-long excerpt from their piece, and suggest classroom activities and questions to accompany it. The Minutes and their learning activities are an impressive snapshot of the creative diversity, enthusiasm and care that the composers brought to the entire week.

We hope you are inspired by hearing what is possible when young people are given the space to immerse themselves in music making. In just a few years’ time, your students could be making their own Minutes for others to learn from!
